Money can bring success but does not always buy success.
Just look at Sapura in the ongoing MHL as this blogger had told former national skipper S.Kuhan way back in July that his team will not do well in the MHL.
And my reasoning was simple - Sapura needed a change in the coaching department, as simple as that.
But people never listen to old hands anymore and the trashing Sapura received is testimony to the fact that they need a fresh injection in the coaching department.
And money, loads of it is what MHC is looking at as they are said to be on the verge of signing a RM20 million deal over a period of 8 years with a local cable network.
There are two catches to it though. That a certain person be awarded the media contracts as well as the deal calls for the inclusion of the TV rights for the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup and Sultan Johor Cup.
The rights to these to tournaments lie with the respective state hockey associations / Perak and Johor so MHC cannot impose any conditions.
Also there is a question of transparency / was it made known to all TV stations of the intention to sell TV rights in order for them to put in a bid?
Money from TV rights ought to be shared with teams, so what percentage will States and clubs in the MHL receive?
Interesting times and perhaps now the officials and umpires can look for a brighter Deepavali since they are owed money from the Junior League conclusion in March, as they only were paid one-third in August. Wonder if the bus transporter got paid fully when the tea boy only got half his money? Insider help maybe!
Note- it's been a struggle without proper vision as had an eye operation hence my absence from this wide world web and not out of fear of anything. Thanks to my friend who was patient to type and help me post this update.
